The type 55 safety shut-off valve is typically located between a boiler and a gas-liquid heat exchanger (preheater). If there are leaks in the tube bundle of the heat exchanger, gas enters the water circuit and the pressure rises. The safety shut-off valve protects against this by closing and thus protecting the boiler against impermissibly high pressure.
If the pressure in the water pipes drops, the safety shut-off valve opens again. It is designed for the highest permissible inlet pressure of the gas. An optional sensor is installed to indicate whether the safety shut-off valve is closed.

The valve is marked with a hard stamp on the valve body and nameplate.

Mode of action
The safety shut-off valve is closed in the sectional drawing. During operation, the spring (9) keeps the valve (20) open. If the pressure rises above the
setpoint, it overcomes the spring force and the valve (20) closes completely as the seal (19) presses upwards against the housing.
It makes no difference whether the pressure rises slowly or suddenly. If the pressure falls below the set target value again, the valve is opened again by the spring force. open. If an optional sensor is installed This is controlled via the sensor rod (10) and indicates whether the valve is open or closed.
