The type 55 safety shut-off valve is typically located between a boiler and a gas-liquid heat exchanger (preheater). If there are leaks in the tube bundle of the heat exchanger, gas enters the water circuit and the pressure rises. The safety shut-off valve protects against this by closing and thus protecting the boiler against impermissibly high pressure.
If the pressure in the water pipes drops, the safety shut-off valve opens again. It is designed for the highest permissible inlet pressure of the gas. An optional sensor is installed to indicate whether the safety shut-off valve is closed.

The valve is marked with a hard stamp on the valve body and nameplate.
